Narwal Freo X Ultra
A highly-rated, highly-functional Gen 4 robot vacuum and mop that adopts a new approach to design The Freo X Ultra is a well-built machine. The $1400 price tag may be hard to swallow but it's often available to make it more affordable. The unit looks fantastic, and the base station occupies very little space in a corner of an area.
The design of this machine addresses some of the issues we've experienced with other robotic mop and vacuum cleaners, such as brushes that get tangled up in hair and the vacuum brush not being able to reach the bare flooring beneath furniture. The performance of the sweeper on floors and carpets is also impressive. The vacuum/mop features a high-quality debris collection and the mop is able to quickly soak up flooring.
The mops have a sophisticated system that cleans the edges of walls, and around furniture. The robot avoids most bulkier obstacles such as toys, food bowls, backpacks, and shoes without any problem. It could get caught or entangled with smaller, more compact objects such as shoelaces, USB cable, and pen.
This robot was used to mop and vacuum hardwood flooring FLOR carpet tiles as well as pile rugs in a huge open-plan home. It vacuumed and mops the 90 square meters in 170 minutes with FREO Mind enabled. This is about average for Gen 4 robots.
Several features distinguish this robot from others in its class. Freo X Ultra is equipped with numerous improvements in terms of sensors, software, and hardware to keep it at the top of its class. It has been declared to have an autonomy of 3.5 hours for environments of up to 260 square meters.
You can customize multiple features of the Freo app, such as how often the robot is back to the base station as well as its mopping frequency and power (silent or smart), and its mopping humidity. The app is able to detect dirty spots and create an appropriate cleaning route. It can also distribute detergent and raise the carpet pads.
smart robot include a rapid charging battery, a simple-to-read display on the robot's underside and a handy dock door that opens easily. The Freo X Ultra is the most efficient vacuum and mop for home or apartment owners who want to make a difference in their chores while still keeping their homes tidy and clean.
Miele Scout RX3
Miele has a track record of quality and innovation in the field of robot vacuuming. The new Miele robot is designed to take the cleaning performance to a whole new level, with its advanced features.
The RX3 has dual suction technology smart navigation system that incorporates 3D mapping and a camera that transmits live images to your smartphone for effortless control. The RX3's four-stage system offers excellent dust collection on hard floors and carpets. Side brushes can be swept out with dual suction channels, and intuitive controls clean corners. The 8.5 cm height lets it fit under furniture with ease, while front cameras and infrared sensors aid it navigate around obstacles and thresholds with ease.
The Scout RX3 impressed us in our tests on how well it cleaned baking powder around corners and baseboards. Its 2,500Pa of suction was a bit weaker than other robots but it moved quickly and was very quiet. It did not mop and its clean pad was a challenge to attach. It also couldn't handle dried-on dirt.
Its app isn't equipped with advanced features, such as multiple cleaning modes or automated scheduling. It supports Alexa however its voice commands don't seem to be very clear or responsive. Also, it's a bit unreliable when it comes navigating its way back to the charging station following a run other robots are able to follow a previous route or even follow a wall until they get to their destination however, the RX3 just bumbles about until it gives up and sends a message of failure to your phone.
We also encountered issues with the smart features of the device, including its mapping feature and the digital stay-out zones. It was good at keeping our furniture legs and shoes away however it could easily get hanging up on cables, socks and rugs. We decided not to include the Scout RX3 in our Best Buy list. The Scout RX3 offers a good price and a dazzling performance. It's worth a look as an alternative to traditional uprights.
